Original title Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. When Otis’ sister comes to stay, we see both sides of Henry: the guy next door and the serial killer. The film was rated "X" by the MPAA, further increasing its reputation as a controversial movie. Henry likes to kill people, in different ways each time. It premiered in 1986 to successful showings on the film festival circuit, but with its positive critical attention, the film also attracted controversy. The movie was filmed in 1985 but had difficulty finding a distributor. The movie is loosely based on convinced real-life serial killers Henry Lee Lucas and Otis Toole.
